Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to start with OraWrite

Clear answers about Windows, Mac, voice dictation, audio files, privacy and licensing.

Installation and compatibility

Does OraWrite work on Windows and macOS?

Yes. Windows 10 and 11 are supported. On Mac, choose the Apple Silicon version for M1, M2, M3 and M4 computers, or the Intel version for older Macs.

What happens during the first launch?

OraWrite activates the trial and downloads the speech model selected for your computer. An internet connection is needed for this initial setup. Local dictation can then work offline.

Why can Windows or macOS ask for confirmation?

Windows may display SmartScreen and macOS may ask you to confirm the first opening. Follow the short installation help shown in the download window. On Mac, microphone and Accessibility permissions are needed for dictation and automatic text insertion.

Dictation and audio files

Can I dictate in Word, Gmail and other apps?

Yes. Hold the keyboard shortcut, speak, then release it. OraWrite inserts the text where your cursor is located in most desktop applications and browser fields.

Can OraWrite transcribe existing audio files?

Yes. Import MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4 and other common formats. You can export the transcript as TXT, DOCX or SRT subtitles.

How can I improve recognition quality?

Use a clear microphone, speak naturally and reduce background noise. A headset or USB microphone usually gives more consistent results than a distant built-in microphone.

Privacy, languages and plans

Does my audio stay on my computer?

Local processing is enabled by default. Audio and text remain on your computer in local mode. Cloud processing is optional and only used when you enable it.

Which languages are supported?

Voice dictation supports 51 languages. OraWrite Pro also provides bidirectional translation across those 51 languages.

How does the free trial work?

The trial lasts 30 days and does not require a credit card. It is designed to let you verify microphone quality, transcription speed and compatibility before purchasing.

Can I cancel a subscription?

Yes. Subscriptions can be managed through the customer portal. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
